Coaching for Mindful Drinking and Alcohol Guidance

Celebrating?

If it’s your last day of work before a seasonal holiday and you’re partying tonight, my mindful drinking guidance below may coach you away from a hangover tomorrow…

First Let’s Put Things into Perspective

Alcohol will:

  • Increase your risk of getting a cold, flu or infection

  • Keep a cold, flu or infection going longer

  • Reduce the absorption of vital vitamins & minerals required for optimum health & immunity

  • Increase stress, anxiety & depression

  • Impact sleep quality & duration making you more susceptible to colds & flu

  • Put added burden on liver function, potentially resulting in poor skin, digestive symptoms & increased risk of infection

  • Cause weight gain due to the high sugar content

  • Deplete your friendly gut bacteria contributing to digestive symptoms, low mood & reduced immunity.

With the above in mind do you still want to go ahead with that glass of fizz?

  • Do you have a cold?

  • Have you been unwell recently?

  • Do you want to get better quicker?

  • Do you want to mitigate your infection risk?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, what can you do to avoid drinking alcohol at the moment?

Choose your glass carefully!

  • Choose a glass like the one second from the left that fits only 120ml of liquid

  • Avoid more than one alcoholic beverage per hour

  • Drink a glass of water in between alcohol

  • Buy mini bottles so you don’t have an open bottle in the fridge luring you

  • Don’t drink on an empty stomach and include protein in snacks

  • Spend time with those who support your health & wellbeing rather than those who inhibit it

  • Avoid drinking more than two occasions in a week

Include protein with healthy low carb snacks

Try my gluten & dairy free smoked salmon buckwheat blini recipe to help stabilise hunger hormones and reduce the risk of a headache.

It will be Friday night again next week!
