How I Work

As a Registered Nutritionist and Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I will equip you with the tools you need to create your own gut health tool kit so that you can optimise your gut function and feel better. I want to move you forwards and to be independent with maintaining your gut health; leading to a brighter, healthier and happier you. Working together I will help set you free from the symptoms holding you back.

I have an extensive background educating adults and therefore when you arrive with me in clinic I can educate you about why I am making specific dietary and lifestyle recommendations to help you feel better. I create personalised visual aids to support your understanding and help guide your journey to optimum health and wellness.

Alongside being a Registered Nutritionist and an Educationalist, I am also a professional Health Coach which means I will help you unlock obstacles that prevent you from making the changes required to improve your health. Setbacks and ambivalence to change are a normal part of the process, even the most motivated of people slip off track but with my support I will help you stay on it for lasting dietary and lifestyle change.

If you experience gut problems, mood disturbances, skin issues, ongoing pain in muscles & joints and increased susceptibility to infections, I can help you transform the ecosystem of your gut to start feeling better.

I work like a detective to find out what is at the root cause of your symptoms, causing you to suffer. I do this with an extensive nutritional analysis of your food diary. I provide professional, easy to use client management software for you to input this information on your phone, pad or screen.

This will help me discover if you have low levels of specific vitamins and minerals required in digestion, brain & mood function, skin growth, muscle & bone formation; or identify any nutrient excess that may be contributing to your symptoms. I will be able to see if your diet is falling short on specific foods required for a thriving gut microbiome.

I conduct a detailed lifestyle assessment and medical history to determine key factors that may be contributing to your gut dysfunction, such as historical food poisoning, trauma or periods of extreme stress. I will support you to address any issues that may surface during our work together and make professional mental health and/or medical referrals where necessary.

I may use functional testing to gain deeper insight into your gut dysfunction, such as a comprehensive vitamin and mineral screen; or a GI Stool Map, which is an assessment of gut function and its microbial composition. A Stool Map will show us  how the gut is performing and provide details about your gut ecosystem and if there are any rogue microbes causing your symptoms.

I provide GP letters and medical referrals where necessary. If you have had cancer or are undergoing treatment I will keep in contact with your Oncologist.

The gut is the epicentre of all human health…

An imbalance in the gut, known as ‘dysbiosis’, may manifest as mood disturbances such as increased stress, depression & anxiety; skin issues; pain in muscles & joints; gastrointestinal symptoms and frequent infections. This is because the gut is linked in a complex communication network to many sites throughout the body. There is the gut-brain-axis, gut-skin-axis, gut-bone-axis, gut-muscle-axis and 75-80% of your immune system is located in the gut. Therefore, gut dysbiosis may cause immune dysregulation and immunity problems such as frequent colds and flu or inability to recover from an infection.

The gut microbiome is your microbial gut ecosystem, involved in many vital processes in the human body. Such as digestion & energy metabolism, production of happy & sad hormones that govern your mood and they play a role in the formation of new bone and muscle cells. Therefore, dysbiosis may cause digestive symptoms, tiredness, muscle & joint pain and low mood. The skin is a reflection of the condition of the gut and an imbalance in your gut microbiome may contribute to skin conditions and inflammation.
