Green Detox Morning Juice

A green juice can be an effective dietary measure to support the removal of toxins from the body, however there is an efficacy that should be followed for their safe elimination and to avoid headaches and nausea.

Problematic skin, muscle pain and digestive symptoms may be alleviated with green juice if consumed correctly

If you’re going to start your day with a green juice ensure to eat a protein source 30 minutes later to avoid headaches & nausea

Recipe

  • 3 stalks celery

  • 4 cos/romaine lettuce leaves

  • 1/2 lemon skin & pith

  • Knob of fresh ginger (don’t peel)

  • Knob fresh turmeric (don’t peel)

  • 2 handfuls of kale

  • Sprig of mint

  • Sprig of parsley

    Method

  • Put all ingredients through a cold press juicer

  • If you don’t have a juicer you can wazz ingredients in a high speed blender with water, this will make a thicker beverage. It may be quite sharp but the fibres will provide an additional boost to the friendly gut bacteria! If blending use only 1/4 lemon including skin & pith

Nutritional Recommendations

  • Drink a glass of water upon waking, before the juice

  • 30 minutes after consuming the juice eat a breakfast containing protein and fat

  • The liver & gallbladder need fat and protein to work. If you don’t eat following the green juice you may experience nausea, muscle pain or headache.

  • The Gut Coach breakfast protein favourites: nuts, seeds (particularly pumpkin seeds), smoked salmon, eggs, tofu scramble, mushrooms.

  • Avocado is a healthy fat and a source of glutathione which is needed in liver detoxification processes.

  • Other fats to choose from Greek or coconut yoghurt, butter, nuts, seeds, olive oil, eggs, salmon.

Include protein and fat in a smoothie to optimise liver detoxification
